October, 2006

Dear Angel Foundation for Learning:

How are you; I hope by the grace of all mighty God, that you are all fine and that God is leading you into a successful year. My name is Perlina, I am 19 years old, and I am a student currently attending York University. I am a former graduate of James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School (JCM). I am writing this letter to thank you for your generous donations to our breakfast club program. Even though I am no longer a student at JCM, I have managed to stay connected with the school. When I was a student at JCM I was part of the breakfast club program and I believe that this program helped reunite both the students and the teachers. They were able to build strong and respectful relationships with one another.

The breakfast club program is available to all of the staff and all of the students at JCM. The breakfast club serves about half of our student population and about half of our staff as well. Breakfast Club also helps reduce the amount of stress students have at home. It also helped them improve their marks because they had food in their stomachs. Students no longer had to worry about sitting in a classroom with an empty stomach and they could better concentrate on the lessons that were being given by their teachers.

The breakfast club program has also helped students and teachers build a stronger relationship outside of the classroom. Teachers have become more approachable to students because students understand that teachers are fun and easy-going outside of the classroom. This kind of understanding was gained through time spent interacting together with both the teachers and students sharing their daily breakfast meals together.

In conclusion, I would like to send a special thank you on behalf of the entire JCM community for giving us the chance to better our futures. All of the students and also all of the staff in our school are all very grateful. Your MTCEF donation supporting our breakfast club program has helped us to have a better future and to build stronger relationships with one another. May God bless you and your families for what you have done to help JCM students and staff and may you have a successful year ahead.

Yours truly,

Perlina

Good morning,

Our daughter, Amy Marshall, is autistic and attends  Bishop Marrocco/Thomas Merton CSS. Last year one of the most beneficial of the school’s programs for Amy’s life-skills development was the breakfast/nutrition program. She practised not only shopping but also food preparation and presentation. We found this program to be valuable for reinforcing Amy's life-skills development. Please continue this program.

Thank you.

Yours truly,

Joan and Dave Marshall
Parents at Bishop Marrocco/Thomas Merton CSS thank the Foundation

Thank you for allowing us to feed the bodies, minds and souls of our students!
